Do I need help?

Are you wondering ‘Do I need counselling or coaching?’

You don’t have to know exactly what is wrong to benefit from counselling/coaching. It’s perfectly fine to book an appointment on the basis that you feel off-kilter, or are finding day-to-day life challenging. Maybe you feel tired all the time, have lost interest in your social life, or can’t seem to care about your job anymore.

You might feel stuck in a place or situation that isn’t where you want to be, or find yourself repeating certain behaviour no matter how often you tell yourself that you ‘won’t do it again’.

There is no single reason to book counselling or coaching and no one reason is more valid than another. Fusion Therapeutic Coaching is able to help with a variety of issues ranging from eating disorders to PTSD, below are some of the areas in which my experience is focused:

‘Anxiety sucks, you unintentionally make yourself sad, you feel alone even when you’re not and sometimes you don’t even know whats wrong…’

Anxiety can happen to anyone and it doesn’t discriminate. It is one of the most common issues faced by people today. Almost everyone has experienced it at some point and uncontrolled it can have a paralysing effect on both our health and our everyday lives.

When experiencing anxiety, you might notice that you are less able to cope with day-to-day life or find yourself feeling physically drained.

Why? Because your limbic system (which includes the amygdala) is the part of the brain which forms your survival and emotional centre. If your limbic system thinks you are in danger emotionally or physically ( and it cant tell the difference!) it can create anxiety and depression. Neuroscience today confirms that these are physical responses. The trouble is whilst we all have different underlying triggers such as illness, long periods of stress, trauma, even lifestyle choices, our brain has only one response.

This physical response means your limbic system struggles to produce the chemicals that help you feel motivated, relaxed and confident (dopamine, serotonin and oxytocin). Without these in balance, the world can seem much darker and more frightening than it actually is and you feel anxious, depressed, low in confidence and self-esteem. Prolonged anxiety can lead to depression so it really is worth getting help as soon as you can.

Treating this imbalance is incredibly easy to learn and its such simple stuff that helps change your brain patterns and helps you to feel naturally more confident and relaxed. You honestly don’t have to feel like this. By introducing you to new ways of understanding your psychology and teaching you tools to reduce and manage your anxiety you can find a more relaxed and confident way of being.

Panic Attacks

Many people experience panic attacks and it is far more common that people realise. The midst of a panic attack can seem like a terrifying place - you might feel sick, like you might faint or feel like you are going to lose control completely. Overtaken by your emotions it may seem impossible to think straight. Panic attacks can stop people from living their lives to the full and in the most extreme cases even leaving their homes.

It doesn’t have to be like this. The good news is, there are many effective techniques that you can use to stop your panic attacks. You can understand what’s happening and learn tools and techniques to let go of panic and feel relaxed and calm.

Therapeutic Coaching can help:

  • Stop panic attacks
  • Increase your confidence in situations where you may feel anxious
  • Change negative thoughts
  • Retrain you brain to be stronger and more positive
  • Help you be less reactive and more proactive
  • Help you start to make the most of your life instead of being afraid

Seeing Amanda changed my life. I never thought I would be able to do the things I do now… from the first time I met her things started changing, I only wish I had met her thirty years ago…

Stress Management

The greatest weapon against stress is our ability to choose one thought over another.

Obvious isn’t it? The thing is when we are stressed we don’t always make our best choices. Perhaps you know exactly what is causing your stress but your usual coping mechanisms aren’t working, or maybe something stressful happened to you and you just can’t seem to bounce back this time.

Many people experience stress in their lives and finding a way to reduce it and dial down our sympathetic nervous system allows us to think more clearly, improve mental health and feel more relaxed and happy. High levels of stress can have a negative impact on all areas of our lives – work, relationships and health can all suffer when we are unable to let go.

Physically many health problems are exacerbated by stress including:

  • Pain of any kind
  • Urinary problems
  • Heart disease
  • Digestive problems
  • Sleep problems
  • Weight problems
  • Elevated blood pressure
  • Skin conditions such as eczema

Imagine if you were holding a glass half full of water, in the first hour it may not seem heavy, in the second hour it would seem heavier but after ten or twelve hours the glass would seem unbearably heavy. So it is with stress, it can arrive quickly or can build over years becoming a heavier burden the longer we hold it. Therapeutic coaching teaches a different way of processing the triggers that result in stress, making life easier, allowing you to step and make the best choices for you and letting focus on what really matters in order to make you happy.

There is no single cause of depression. Different things will cause depression for different people and at least one in three of us will experience depression at some point in our lives.

You are stronger than you think.

Our minds are designed to generate fresh, new thinking that can support us on a daily basis but often there is no space for these new thoughts to arise because our minds are filled with so much fear and insecurity. Using a combination of clinically proven techniques and the latest approach to wellbeing, Therapeutic coaching can help you to create a more positive outlook and help you to change old patterns that may be holding you back. It can help you change the way you see both yourself and the world around you, bringing new energy, a genuinely positive way of thinking and a way forward to a better future.

Becoming fearless isnt the point. Its learning how to control your fear and how to be free of it.

Living a life full of nerves is not enjoyable. Dealing with confidence or nervousness issues can help you feel happier and more confident in who you are and what you are doing. We all have the ability to change patterns of behaviour and to develop the ability to feel confident, safe and strong in situations that life throws at us. There are a number of practical solutions to these issues that will help you feel calm, confident and in control.

Actually I can…

It is natural to have periods where you doubt yourself and your abilities but there are also times when feeling low in this way can limit what you are able to achieve and create in your life. Knowing that who you are is enough, regardless of your past and present circumstances can be life changing. Discovering your own value and worth can free you to enjoy your life more fully and make each day happier and more fulfilling.

Managing chronic health conditions

Whatever health issues you may be facing can you imagine a life feeling better? The connection between our mind and our body provides possibility for directing our own healing and Therapeutic Coaching is a means of facilitating this positive direction.

You can learn to concentrate your inbuilt immune system devices and work to improve your health issues. You can learn how to have more control over your physical and emotional feelings and start living a life that allows you to cope in the best possible way with whatever you are facing.

In life we all sometimes need a little help to get back on track. The good news is you can take back control and start to feel better. You can find the healthiest, happiest version of you and you can enjoy life again.

Habits of thinking need not be forever. One of the most significant findings in psychology in the last twenty years is that individuals can choose the way they think.
